Children’s activities

We make use of our expertise in each subject area to create classes that are both fun and empowering.
Since 1971, the school has also established a time for integrated activities, in which students think for themselves, use their bodies and practice independent and creative problem-solving activities.
School events include the annual 4-day/3-night “Kiyosato Training Camp” for 3rd year students, “Snow Life” for 5th year students and “Tomiura Swimming Camp” for 6th year students. Through living together, the children learn the importance of cooperating with their peers and develop a strong spirit to face difficulties. In particular, the 2,600-metre Yatsugatake mountain-climbing (Kiyosato camp) in the sixth grade, the 2-kilometre long swim in Tomiura, and the sail-hanging (assembly exercise) at the sports day are called the “Three Mountains of Affiliated Elementary Schools”, and systematic guidance is provided from the lower grades with the aim of overcoming these “Three Mountains”. In the ‘School Trip’, students visit Kyoto and Nara and have various cultural experiences, including Zen meditation.
The students will experience the significance and joy of working and producing through various activities such as planting sweet potatoes, harvesting potatoes and sweet potatoes and picking grapes at the Hoya Rural School in Nishi-Tokyo City, Tokyo.
